Privacy Policy
Effective October 18, 2026
The Historic Old Town Association (HOTA, "we") runs the Old Town Portal at portal.albuquerqueoldtown.com and the public listing and event pages it serves. This policy explains what we collect, why, and who sees it.
What we collect
- Your account: name, email, phone, address, company name, and the ways you are involved in Old Town (merchant, property owner, resident, or ally).
- Your storefront: its name, address, category, description, photos, and any printed-map ad artwork you upload.
- Your property: parcels you own or manage, matched from public City of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County property records. We also keep the owner name and mailing address shown in those public records for every parcel in and around the district, whether or not the owner is a member.
- Events you submit for the Old Town calendar.
- Payments: HOTA membership is free. Zoho Billing processes listing subscriptions and security program contributions. Stripe processes cookie tin orders. We never see or store your card number. We keep what you bought, the amount, and the dates, along with the billing details our payment processors send us: your name, email, billing address, and the last four digits and expiry date of the card you used.
- Sign-in: we email you a sign-in link instead of using a password. One secure cookie keeps you signed in.
- Activity: a record of what you do in the portal, such as signing in and changing your listings, so we can answer support questions and trace changes.
- Email delivery: whether our emails reach you, bounce, or are marked as spam, so we stop sending to addresses that do not work. Our email service also records when you click a link in one of our emails, including the IP address and browser used.
- Visits to public pages: our public pages use Google Analytics, through Google Tag Manager, to count visits. See Cookies and analytics below.
How we use it
- To run your account and your storefront in the portal.
- To publish your listings on the portal, the Old Town Albuquerque website, and the printed Old Town map.
- To send account, billing, and storefront emails, including a once-a-year check that your storefront is still open.
- To run the association: membership, events, and the security program.
Who sees it
- The public sees what you publish in your listings: name, address, phone, website, photos, and description.
- HOTA committees see what they need for association business. For example, the Safety and Security Committee receives a weekly report of who contributes to the security program, with contact details.
- Service providers handle data for us: Cloudflare (hosting and image storage), Zoho (billing), Stripe (cookie tin orders), Resend (email delivery), EmailOctopus (the newsletter, only if you subscribe), Mapbox (maps), Google (analytics, web fonts, and Google Maps features where we use them), and the U.S. Census Bureau (address lookups).
- We do not sell personal information.
Cookies and analytics
The portal sets one cookie to keep you signed in. Our public pages also use Google Analytics, which sets cookies to count visits and see how pages are used. To learn how Google collects and uses that information, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. You can turn Google Analytics off with Google's opt-out browser add-on.
Google Maps features
The Old Town Portal may use Google Maps features and content, such as checking whether a listed business is still open. When it does, use of those features is subject to the Google Privacy Policy.
Your choices
- Update your account and storefront details in the portal at any time.
- Use the unsubscribe link in any newsletter or check-in email.
- Close a storefront from its settings page in the portal.
- To close your account, email hota@albuquerqueoldtown.com. We deactivate it and keep the billing and association records we need.
Children
The portal is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
When this policy changes, we post the new version here with a new effective date.
